Equinox

Well, here it is the last of March. Yes, the trees have started sprouting their buds, and some green things are growing out of the dirt in our court yard. It has to mean that spring is just around the corner. The corner will bring, wonderful, warm days of the sun staying up longer than usual, and the night time waning into dawn. Snow covered grounds yielding to May flowers, and the return of Jasmine in the air, that I love so much.

Thoughts of being huddled up close together to keep winter's chill at bay, still in the eaves of my memory. The scarves, gloves, mittens, coats, and blankets are put in my mind's storage to come out when there's another chill in the air no man ever created. Cold that only comes from the winter, where gods, with hearts frozen in time, like the expression on someone's face trapped in by the walls of a snow globe, freeze a layer of this hemisphere, endlessly crying out, but never heard. The calendar on the wall where no one pulled the page off December, forever reading, New Year's Eve 1849. And, the cold lingers on...As the mists of the past carry us into the present, raise your glass, the Equinox is upon us!

Today comes with the 1st sign, the 1st glimpse, of the warmth we've longed for all winter. The 1st notion the sun rules, not the frost. Rain will soon replace the snow that fell out of the heavens, and the green things sprouting from the ground will turn out to be beautiful flowers. Vines of multi-colored blossoms emerging from once a frozen tundra, now covered with the green carpet. To throw my shoes off, and run through the grasses, the Goddess whispered across, barefooted sets my soul on fire.

Spring is for new beginnings, new attitudes, and a new self. Baggage that was carried all winter, must be shed to let in the light of a new day. Strangers become friends, and friends become loved ones. Loved ones become eternal. Beat your drums, blow your horns, ring your bells, spring is here and the possibilities are endless!

Blessed Be!
